What Happens To A Stair Lift During A Power Loss?

Using your stair lift every day without interruption makes life much easier, but what happens if you lose power to your home in a storm or some other reason? Will you simply be stuck until power is restored once again?

Years ago, stair lifts were powered solely by electricity and would shut down wherever they happened to be at the time of power failure. If you were on the lift at the time, you could easily be stuck. At the least, using the stair lift was out of the question until the electric company could restore the power.

Today's stair lifts are totally different. For several years now they have been using batteries as their main power supply, or at the very least, as a backup in the event of power loss.

Battery technology continues to improve, and as the years go by we can expect future batteries to be even better than they are today, with automatic charging systems built in, completely eliminating the need for you to do anything. The result is a stair lift that runs continuously 24 hours a day.
